Old Habits, New Year

This is the time of year where we all reflect on the past, and plan to make changes for the new year…changes in our physical appearance, changes in our business, changes for the family, etc.

In order for these changes to become a reality, we have to look at our habits; those routine behaviors, that produce very little, if any results. Once we identify those habits, changing them is one of the hardest things to do.

What works for me, is the realization that I did not gain weight, get out of shape or get stressed out overnight. It happened over a period of time.

One of the best ways to shift gears from where you are to where you want to be, is to do it in small chunks, like baby steps. Every small step gets you closer to your goal.

A great  resource called “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R Covey, is not a quick-fix, but a set of principles, if applied over time, will eventually become ingrained.  They will lead to change because these habits will effect who you are, your character, for the better.

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going” Jim Rohn

Teaching Children to Give, Share and Care

Summer is coming to an end and the children are back in school.  As a teacher, I wanted to start the new year with teaching my students about giving and charity in a fun learning environment, so we discovered a site called

This is a site where you can feed your mind and feed the hungry at the same time.  Every time you click on the correct definition of a word, the sponsors donate grains of rice through the World Food Program.

This is one of most ingenious creations that combines education, entertainment, and a way to change the world.

Be sure to come back, tell your friends, and click regularly!
