Walking For the Cure

walk2

October 17, 2015, Rydere, a hight school student from Philly said it best:

Whether we walk for the cure, or talk for the cure,

It does not matter as long as we work together to help find the cure.

We may feel like we doing a lot,

but we can do so much more.

We cannot stop, until we find the cure.

Cancer is not just something that makes a woman stress,

It’s a sickness weakening her and attacking her breasts.

Men can get it too, so never think less,

We need to keep fighting, until we put this thing to rest.

This is something we have been battling for quite some time,

We have been our hard earned cash, sometimes every dime.

A good friend lost his Mom to breast cancer,

That’s irreplaceable, a woman of her own standard.

I just want people to be aware, prepared, not scared,

Cancer is something no one should have to bear.

We can change someone’s life, do it because it’s right, not for the hype.

Making a small donation can make someone’s dark pain have a little light,

Also make a victim who is diagnosed, have a little fight.

Cancer is something no one should have to endure,

We need to keep walking, talking, and fighting, together to help find a cure.

Embracing the Spirit of Giving,

Bringing in the New Year 2015 With a New Mindset

newyearHappy New Years!

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild & precious life?”(Mary Oliver)

This is the year of action, thanks to a great read by Erin Morin McCormick.

Are you ready to take your business to the next level?

What do you need to do to succeed?  People say, to be successful in your business, you need to …write a blog, get on Facebook, start pinning, start posting, start tweeting, update your profile, and so on…but how do you begin?

This book outlines 3 steps to success:

  1. Get clear about what you want and why (Time to take a breath and focus)
  2. Get a plan (What are you going to do to get the job done)
  3. Get going (Take a step and then the next one)

Taking consistent small actions is the best medicine to overcome fear and doubts, and a sure way to make this year the best year of your life.

Embracing the Spirit of Giving,

Birthdays Can Change the World

timeline1Today is my birthday, we all have that special day to celebrate in so many different ways.  Some of us love the attention, while others look at it as just another day.  No matter how you feel about this milestone, you can use it to change the world.

I read about a boy and an organization called Charity Water, where millions of people in developing countries walk nearly two hours a day to collect water.  The families take the risk of the water not being clean, bringing it home only to choose between drinking, bathing, cooking or washing.  Some of the water made people sick, and it still was not enough to go around.  So the boy decided to help by giving up his birthday gifts in exchange for family and friends donating to help build clean water projects.

This simple act of kindness has already raised millions of dollars to give clean water. This year, I decided to donate my birthday. Take some time and check out Charity Water, they might inspire you to do the same.
